Changemakereita ympäri maailmaa

Sain äskettäin yhteydenoton Sambiasta. Sähköpostiviestit minun ja sambialaisen Mr. Fridayn välillä ovat kulkeneet aiemminkin; Friday on kysellyt Suomen ja Norjan koordinaattoreilta, miten Changemaker on syntynyt ja toiminut.

Viime viestissä sain lukea Sambian Changemakerin sääntöjä, jotka he olivat muotoilleet. Tavoitteet ovat samoja kuin täällä meillä Pohjoismaissa. Otteita johdannosta, jonka sain:

”Unjust world exist! Taking this as a point of departure, poverty and injustice between people in rich and poor countries are apparent. The gap between rich and poor people continues to widen. Some of the causes lie within the political systems and other inside our own minds.

Further more, poor countries face many challenges of HIV&AIDS, Conflicts, Climate Change, and unfair international trade systems.

Though all people are affected by these challenges, the hardest hit are the youth. Yet they are lagging behind in the fight for removal of the root causes of global injustice.

Even though it’s true that youth are lagging behind, it’s also true that youth can change the world! However, in Zambia, there is no alternative of action for Christian youth who want a more justice world to engage on issues of North-South relationship.

Therefore, Changemaker-Zambia is being proposed to be established as a Christian youth organisation (Ecumenical Youth Organisation) on development policies.”

Nuoret ovat toimijoina avainasemassa sekä kehitysmaissa että rikkaissa länsimaissa. Toimitaan yhteisen asian puolesta! Toivo on tosiasia.
